Our Media Center is an integral part of the educational program at Winnona Park Elementary. We see every class each week for library lessons and checkout. We also turn our space into a technology lab for collaborative lessons to integrate technology into the curriculum. We have an ActivBoard which enhances our lessons, giving students a true hands-on experience with technology.
Parents are encouraged to visit our media center and are welcome to become patrons so that our great literature collection can be enjoyed by the entire family.

The Birthday Book Club hosts a party each month for birthday friends whose families have joined up. If you have not joined for your child and have missed your birthday month's party, go ahead and send in your form and your child will be invited to the next party. That holds true all year long.
We also would love to be able to invite every child in the school, but that takes money. So if you would like to sponsor a child, become a Birthday Friend and we will invite children who might not otherwise be able to join. You are welcome to designate specific children if you wish. You can contribute any amount to become a Birthday Friend. Just give a check to Ann or Jackie and we will see that someone benefits from your generosity. All money goes toward new library books.

top of pageAccelerated Reader is one tool we use to encourage children to read and to be sure that they are comprehending what they are reading. Each child in 2nd and 3rd grades is given the STAR test to determine a range of reading levels that would be just right for the child. We encourage periodic Accelerated Reader quizzes on books the children have read. Many students enjoy taking the quizzes and the selections of materials on their reading levels. Listed below are the quizzes in our database by reading levels.
