| Georgia Online Assessment System | The Georgia Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (GCRCT) will be given to all first through eighth grade students in the Spring. An online practice and assessment instrument, The Georgia Online Assessment System (OAS,) has been made available to all students in Georgia. CSD students will be using it during the day in their classes as they prepare for the GCRCT. This system contains practice tests as well as teacher-created tests that may be used to find areas of strength and weakness. The information below will allow you and your child to use the practice tests outside of school. You may wish to show your child that you are interested in his / her progress by logging on to the website with your child and talking through some questions together. To help prepare your child for the CRCT: 1. Use the same place each day for children to complete homework 2. Make sure your child gets adequate sleep 3. Provide a healthy breakfast 4. Offer reading, writing and math practice each day 5. Talk about the sample questions on the computer with your child. The OAS can be used on any computer that has Internet access in any location: at school, at home, the Decatur Public Library, or any computer with Internet access. A letter will be sent home in the near future with further information such as your child's logon id and password. |
