Life as an elementary school media/instructional technology specialist is great, especially at Winnona Park. My lifelong love of books makes this career the perfect one for me, but I also am especially fortunate to be able to bring in my love of technology and my love of music. My friends call me a geek, which means that I love everything about technology. But one of my biggest joys is also playing the fiddle, the stand-up bass, the guitar, the mandolin, and now, the clawhammer banjo. Oh yes, and I LOVE to sing.
I grew up in High Point, North Carolina, but came to Atlanta in 1974 to get my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Emory University. I started teaching in Decatur, at Oakhurst Elementary, in 1975. I took eleven years off to have a child and to work in a downtown law firm, and returned to the City Schools of Decatur in 1991, again at Oakhurst. I became a Media Specialist in 1993, at Clairemont Elementary, and also worked as the Media Specialist at Westchester Elementary for four years. I was very happy to move to Winnona Park in 2004. What a great community.
